Heydar Aliyev Foundation, ICESCO Sign Agreement

Aliyev

Baku, December 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) have signed an agreement on a new joint project aimed at empowering and promoting the social inclusion of conflict-affected women across three regions of Nigeria, the Foundation announced on December 8.

The agreement was formalized during a meeting between Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Salim bin Mohammed Almalik, Director-General of ICESCO, held on the margins of the international conference titled “Launch of the AI Index for the Islamic World” in Baku.

ICESCO Director-General Almalik thanked Leyla Aliyeva for the excellent organization of the conference and expressed confidence that the discussions held in Baku would help strengthen cooperation among ICESCO member states in the field of artificial intelligence.

Leyla Aliyeva, in turn, expressed her appreciation to the ICESCO leadership for its continued support to Azerbaijan and for organizing initiatives that promote Azerbaijani culture internationally.

Both sides emphasized that the strong partnership between Azerbaijan and ICESCO, as well as the close and effective cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation — chaired by Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva — and ICESCO, continues to play a significant role in advancing shared cultural, scientific, and humanitarian goals.

The meeting also discussed prospective joint projects in science, education, and culture, reaffirming the commitment of both organizations to further expand cooperation.
