Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry: EU–Armenia Strategic Document Contradicts Peace Process

Peace

Baku, December 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday strongly criticized the inclusion of issues “targeting Azerbaijan” in the newly signed Strategic Agenda for the EU-Armenia Partnership, a bilateral document outlining strategic priorities between the European Union and Armenia for the next seven years.

In its official statement, the ministry said the incorporation of such provisions is “unacceptable” and could “negatively affect the prospects of Azerbaijan–EU relations.” It emphasized that the content of the document undermines regional stability and risks derailing ongoing diplomatic efforts.

According to the ministry, a specific provision in the EU–Armenia agreement “directly contradicts the peace process,” particularly given that an article addressing the elimination of such claims had already been included in the peace agreement initialed in Washington, D.C., with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan, the United States, and Armenia.

The Foreign Ministry added that the move “raises serious questions about the proclaimed intention of the Armenian side,” urging all parties to adhere to previously agreed principles to support genuine progress toward lasting peace in the region.
