Azerbaijan to Continue Demanding Landmine Maps from Armenia in 2026

Azerbaijan

Baku, December 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan will persistently seek the handover of maps showing landmines planted in territories liberated from Armenia, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said on Friday during a press conference summarizing the country’s 2025 outcomes.

Minister Bayramov noted that Armenians claim they no longer possess the landmine maps and that all relevant information has already been handed over. “As a result, the situation with mines remains quite complicated. Landmines were planted in many areas during 2021–2023. In addition, hundreds of thousands of mines have been buried in Azerbaijani territories since 2020,” he said.

He added that the complete and safe removal of these mines is unlikely in the short term and will require long-term, carefully planned operations to ensure the safety of civilians and the restoration of the affected areas.
