Istanbul, January 3, 2026 – The Europe Today:: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he is set to hold another telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Monday, according to remarks made after Friday prayers in Istanbul.

“We will have another discussion with US President Donald Trump on Monday,” Erdogan said, adding that the call would take place in the afternoon.

Commenting on the large-scale public demonstration in support of Palestine held on New Year’s Day, Erdogan described the mass gathering on Istanbul’s Galata Bridge as “a historic moment,” saying it sent a clear message that “Palestine is not alone.”

The Turkish president strongly condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of responsibility for the humanitarian suffering in the enclave.

“What this Pharaoh called Benjamin Netanyahu has done will not go unpunished, because he has incurred the curses of countless oppressed people, from the young to the old,” Erdogan said.

Highlighting the worsening humanitarian situation, Erdogan said the suffering of children in Gaza, who are living in makeshift tents amid harsh weather conditions, would not go unanswered. He added that Netanyahu would not avoid being held accountable for the situation.

Turkey has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and increased humanitarian assistance, while continuing to voice strong support for the Palestinian cause on international platforms.
