Toyota Sees Strong Hybrid Car Sales in Việtnam as Demand for Low-Emission Vehicles Rises

Hanoi, January 4, 2026 – The Europe Today: Hybrid vehicles are gaining traction in Việtnam, with Toyota Motor Vietnam reporting a significant increase in sales of fuel-efficient models, reflecting growing consumer interest in environmentally friendly vehicles without compromising practicality.

In December 2025, Toyota sold 1,082 hybrid vehicles, bringing total hybrid deliveries for the year to 8,474 units — a 58 per cent rise compared with 2024. The results highlight a rising demand among Vietnamese buyers for cars that combine efficiency with everyday usability.

Overall, Toyota Motor Vietnam reported total sales of 71,954 vehicles in 2025, marking an 8 per cent increase year on year. December sales reached 8,719 units, including deliveries of the Lexus brand. Of these, Toyota-branded vehicles accounted for 8,329 units, comprising 3,597 locally assembled vehicles and 4,732 completely built-up imports. The strong performance reinforced Toyota’s leading position within the Việt Nam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.

In the luxury segment, Lexus maintained steady momentum, delivering 390 vehicles in December and reaching a total of 2,252 units for 2025. Since its launch in Việt Nam, cumulative Lexus sales have now reached 16,064 units.

Among individual models, the Vios sedan reclaimed the top sales spot in December with 1,972 units, followed by the Yaris Cross compact SUV with 1,393 units. Other notable performers included the Veloz Cross (1,310 units), Innova Cross (1,121 units), and Corolla Cross (539 units). Remaining locally assembled and imported models contributed a combined 1,994 units.

With combined Toyota and Lexus sales totaling 74,206 units in 2025, the company announced plans to intensify its sustainability efforts. Toyota intends to expand its hybrid lineup, enhance product quality and after-sales service, and introduce advanced safety features. The strategy aims to meet evolving customer expectations while supporting national objectives to reduce emissions.
