Ankara, January 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan on Thursday received Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), at the presidential state guesthouse in Ankara.
Speaking on the occasion, Erdoğan wrote on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal: “I was pleased to meet with Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General. I hope that the work carried out with great dedication for the Palestinian people will lead to concrete and lasting results that end their suffering.”
Lazzarini, in turn, expressed his gratitude and highlighted the first lady’s leadership and active role on issues concerning Palestine.
Ambassador Mehmet Gulluoglu, Türkiye’s coordinator for humanitarian aid to Palestine, also attended the meeting, reflecting the country’s continued commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts in the region.
