Ankara, February 6, 2026 — The Europe Today: Türkiye has strongly condemned a terrorist attack in Kwara State, Nigeria, which resulted in the deaths of at least 170 people.
In a statement shared on Thursday via X, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said it was “deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by the terrorist attack that took place in Nigeria’s Kwara State.”
The ministry extended its condolences to the families of the victims and to the Nigerian people, reaffirming Türkiye’s solidarity with Nigeria. It also emphasized that “Türkiye will continue to support Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.”
According to reports, armed groups carried out coordinated attacks in Kwara State on Tuesday, killing at least 170 people. The state, particularly communities located near forested areas, has in recent months faced escalating security challenges linked to banditry, kidnappings and the movement of armed groups fleeing military operations in neighbouring northwestern and north-central regions of the country.
Nigerian authorities have continued efforts to restore security in affected areas, as international partners express solidarity and support in combating terrorism and violent extremism.
