France

Paris, February 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: France and Ukraine have signed a memorandum of intent aimed at strengthening cooperation in the joint development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other advanced defense technologies, according to media reports.

The agreement was announced by French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin, who shared the development on her official account on the social media platform X. She stated that the memorandum was signed with her Ukrainian counterpart, Mykhailo Fedorov.

“I signed a memorandum of intent with my colleague on the joint development and implementation of innovative defense solutions, particularly in the areas of drones and data processing,” Vautrin said.

The memorandum underscores the growing defense cooperation between France and Ukraine, with a focus on technological innovation and the enhancement of military capabilities. The initiative is expected to facilitate collaboration in research, development, and deployment of next-generation defense systems, especially unmanned platforms and data-driven technologies.

The move comes amid ongoing efforts by Ukraine to modernize its defense sector and by France to expand strategic defense partnerships with key allies.
