Washington, March 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Embassy of Azerbaijan in the United States hosted a festive Novruz celebration in Maryland, bringing together members of the Azerbaijani community, international guests, and Azerbaijani students to mark the traditional holiday.
The event commenced with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, setting a formal and patriotic tone for the gathering.
Addressing the audience, Embassy Counselor Vusala Mehdiyeva подчеркнула the importance of such events in preserving national and spiritual values, strengthening unity within the Azerbaijani diaspora, and promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage abroad. She extended her heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Novruz and conveyed warm holiday wishes on behalf of the Embassy.
The celebration featured a vibrant artistic program, including traditional Azerbaijani dances such as “Nalbaki,” “Uzundara,” “Bizim Vatan,” and “Yalli,” performed by young members of the community.
The audience also enjoyed musical performances by talented young Azerbaijani pianists, who presented well-known pieces including “Aman Ayrılıg,” “Sarı Galin,” “Gubanın Ağ Alması,” “İntizar,” “Nazanda Sevgilim,” “Çırpınırdı Qara dəniz,” and “Ay Lachın.”
The event concluded with guests sampling a variety of Azerbaijani national dishes, providing a cultural and culinary highlight to the celebration.
