Türkiye Engages Regional and Global Partners to De-Escalate Iran Conflict

Türkiye

Ankara, March 24, 2026 – The Europe Today: Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a series of separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Egypt, Norway, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia to discuss the ongoing conflict involving Iran and efforts to bring an end to the escalating crisis, Turkish diplomatic sources said on Monday.

According to the sources, Fidan’s discussions with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, and Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan primarily focused on diplomatic initiatives aimed at halting the war and reducing regional tensions.

In a separate call with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, both sides exchanged views on the latest developments in the conflict and its broader regional implications.

The diplomatic outreach comes amid continued escalation following a joint offensive launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28. The conflict has reportedly resulted in over 1,300 fatalities, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has carried out drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries hosting U.S. military assets. The retaliatory attacks have caused casualties, infrastructure damage, and significant disruptions to global markets and international aviation.

Türkiye has been actively engaging regional and international stakeholders in recent weeks, emphasizing the need for urgent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and restore stability in the Middle East.
