Türkiye and Pakistan Discuss Iran Conflict, Emphasize Diplomatic Resolution

Pakistan

Islamabad, April 8, 2026 – The Europe Today: Hakan Fidan and Muhammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing conflict involving Iran, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.

During the call, both sides exchanged views on diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war, which escalated following attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The discussion comes amid intensifying regional tensions, with Pakistan earlier calling for “time and space” to allow diplomatic initiatives to de-escalate the situation and prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

The conflict has placed the region on high alert since late February, when a sustained offensive was launched against Iran. In response, Tehran has carried out retaliatory drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as regional countries including Jordan and Iraq, along with Gulf states hosting US military assets.

The escalation has resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and significant disruptions to global markets and aviation networks.

Adding to the urgency, Donald Trump issued a stark warning ahead of a self-imposed deadline, stating that “a whole civilization will die tonight,” intensifying international concern over the potential for further escalation.

Both Türkiye and Pakistan underscored the importance of diplomatic engagement and coordinated international efforts to bring the conflict to an end and restore regional stability.
