Jabrayil, July 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan has continued the implementation of its “Great Return” programme with the resettlement of 46 families, comprising 223 people, in Shukurbeyli village of the Jabrayil district.
The newly resettled families were officially presented with the keys to their new homes during a ceremony held in the village, marking another step in the government’s efforts to facilitate the safe and sustainable return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their native regions.
The key handover ceremony was attended by officials from the Office of the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, along with representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other government officials.
The resettlement forms part of Azerbaijan’s broader reconstruction and rehabilitation programme aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, restoring essential public services, and creating modern living conditions in territories affected by years of conflict.
The “Great Return” initiative seeks to ensure the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of former internally displaced persons while promoting sustainable development and long-term socio-economic revitalisation across the liberated territories.
