Islamabad, August 13, 2026 — The Europe Today: A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the National Book Foundation (NBF), Islamabad, to inaugurate the newly renovated Nizami Ganjavi Corner, established through a joint collaboration between the NBF and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The literary corner was originally established on December 9, 2014, and has now been renovated under the leadership of Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan H.E. Khazar Farhadov and Managing Director of the National Book Foundation Dr. Kamran Jahangir.
The ribbon was jointly cut by Ambassador Khazar Farhadov and Dr. Kamran Jahangir, marking the formal reopening of the renovated facility.
The Azerbaijani delegation attending the ceremony included Mrs. Tarana Farhadova, wife of the Ambassador; Samir Ahmadli, Deputy Head of Mission; Anar Valiyev, First Secretary; Turan Abdullayev, Second Secretary; Ali Gahramanof, Third Secretary; Ronald Zafar, Secretary to the Ambassador; and Mahmud Gadali, Finance Attaché.
The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Kamran Jahangir, Managing Director of the NBF; Dr. Khan Farhan Riffat, Secretary NBF; Murad Ali Mohmand, Director Headquarters NBF; and Dr. Shehla Saeed.
Speaking on the occasion, the participants highlighted the significance of the initiative in promoting literary and cultural ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The renovated corner is intended to provide readers, researchers and young people with greater access to the literary legacy of Nizami Ganjavi, one of the most celebrated poets and intellectual figures of the Persian literary tradition.
The initiative reflects the shared cultural and literary bonds between Pakistan and Azerbaijan and seeks to introduce the timeless ideas, humanistic values and literary message of Nizami Ganjavi to a new generation.
The revitalisation of the Nizami Ganjavi Corner is expected to further encourage cultural exchange, literary engagement and appreciation of the enduring heritage that connects the peoples of Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
