Baku, August 16, 2026 — The Europe Today: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has expressed deep condolences to Indonesia following a powerful earthquake that caused loss of life and injuries in the country.
In a message shared by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the ministry said it was deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake and extended its condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
The Azerbaijani side also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the disaster and expressed solidarity with the people and Government of Indonesia during the difficult period.
A powerful magnitude-7.7 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia on Saturday, triggering widespread destruction and casualties. Rescue and emergency response teams have been working to reach affected areas and assist victims of the disaster.
