Paris, July 31, 2024, The Europe Today: Vietnamese badminton player Lê Đức Phát delivered an impressive performance, winning 21-10, 21-10 against German competitor Fabian Roth in the group round at the Paris Olympics.
Inspired by teammate Nguyễn Thùy Linh’s victory in the women’s category, Phát launched a relentless attack throughout the game. His high-speed serves and powerful hits left Roth, ranked 83rd in the world, struggling to keep up. Phát secured his victory in just 34 minutes, marking an impressive debut at his first Olympic Games.
This match marked the second victory for Phát over Roth. He previously defeated Roth in March at the Poland Open, winning 21-17, 21-19.
Phát, currently ranked 71st in the world, will face India’s Prannoy Kumar, ranked 13th, in his next match. The winner will top Group K and advance to the next stage of the competition.
