In a commanding performance during the final, Iqbal defeated Hong Kong’s second-seed Matthew Lai with scores of 11-6, 11-1, and 11-3, securing his 17th career title and prize money of $12,000. The match lasted only 24 minutes, showcasing Iqbal’s exceptional skills and dominance on the court.
Iqbal’s journey to the final saw him overcoming Switzerland’s Robin Gadola in a thrilling semi-final match. Although Gadola leveled the match in the second game, Iqbal exhibited his prowess by dominating the next two games, winning with scores of 6-11, 11-4, 2-11, and 3-11.
With this victory, Iqbal has now won four out of his last five tournaments. His recent form has seen him climb steadily in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) rankings, where he is currently positioned at 116 globally.
