Beijing, December 20, 2024 – The Europe Today: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held discussions with diplomatic envoys from Arab countries in Beijing on Thursday, emphasizing China’s commitment to fostering stronger China-Arab relations and contributing to peace and stability in the Middle East.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, underscored that China regards its relations with Arab nations as a key pillar of its foreign policy. He highlighted that China-Arab relations have reached their most fruitful period under the strategic guidance of the leaders from both sides.
China is prepared to work closely with Arab countries to sustain the momentum of comprehensive cooperation, jointly advance modernization, and build a high-level community of shared future, Wang said.
Addressing regional issues, Wang stressed that the Middle East belongs to its people and called for the international community to respect the sovereignty, cultural traditions, and independent decisions of the region’s nations. He urged global support for achieving long-term peace and stability through regional harmony.
On pressing concerns, Wang called for a comprehensive ceasefire and withdrawal of forces in Gaza, advocating for a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution. He also reiterated the need to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and encouraged an inclusive political settlement process for Syria.
China will continue to back Arab nations in enhancing strategic independence, achieving unity, and pursuing self-reliance, Wang said, reaffirming Beijing’s dedication to contributing to peace in the Middle East.
Arab envoys expressed their commitment to the one-China principle and praised China’s consistent support for Arab nations. They commended the inaugural Arab-China Summit for elevating bilateral relations and conveyed their willingness to collaborate on preparations for the second summit, aiming to expand the outcomes of China-Arab cooperation.
The envoys also appreciated China’s principled stance on the Palestinian issue and its efforts to mediate peace and stability in the Middle East. They called for China to play a more significant role in easing tensions and fostering harmony in the region.
The meeting underscored the deepening ties between China and Arab nations and their shared vision for addressing global challenges and promoting regional peace.
