Hanoi, June 24, 2025 — The Europe Today: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has announced that the upcoming Exhibition of Socio-Economic Achievements, held in celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), will be a major national event, notable for its large scale, rich content, and inspirational significance.
Chairing a meeting of the Government Standing Committee with ministries and sectors on Monday, PM Chính underscored that the exhibition must vividly depict the 80-year journey of national defence, construction, and development. “The exhibition must portray the 80-year journey of national defence and development, thereby fostering national pride and generating motivation and inspiration for the country to enter a new era,” he said.
Strategic Planning and Scope
A Steering Committee has already been established by the Government, alongside a master plan for the 80th anniversary commemorative activities, which prominently include the national exhibition. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, acting as the Standing Body of the Steering Committee, has held consultations with all provinces and centrally governed cities to ensure coordinated implementation with relevant ministries and agencies.
The exhibition is scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 5, 2025, at the Cổ Loa National Exhibition Centre in Đông Anh District, Hà Nội. It will showcase Vietnam’s comprehensive socio-economic achievements over eight decades, across key domains such as national development, defence, industrialisation, modernisation, culture, and international integration.
Diverse and Engaging Activities
The main exhibition will be complemented by a series of supplementary events, including trade fairs, culinary and tourism showcases, traditional handicraft displays, cultural performances, bilateral meetings, and thematic conferences. These elements aim to enhance visitor experience and demonstrate the vibrancy and resilience of the Vietnamese people and economy.
Ministries, sectors, and localities have been tasked with preparing detailed plans to ensure an equitable and balanced presentation of achievements across all regions and thematic areas. Dedicated service spaces will also be arranged to provide resting and entertainment areas for visitors, as well as interactive zones to foster public engagement.
Authorities will guarantee the highest standards of security, public order, and food safety, while cultural and artistic programming will be thoughtfully curated to reflect the unity and diversity of Vietnamese identity.
High-Level Guidance and National Mobilisation
Calling this a task of “great significance and without precedent,” PM Chính highlighted the urgency and importance of thorough preparation given the limited timeline and high expectations surrounding the event.
“All ministries, sectors and localities must participate with the highest sense of responsibility to ensure that the exhibition is comprehensive, objective, truthful, practical and effective,” he stated. He also stressed that the exhibition must both cater to domestic cultural and recreational needs and serve as a platform to present Vietnam’s 80-year journey of progress to the global community.
The Prime Minister proposed the theme: “The 80-Year Journey of Independence – Freedom – Happiness”, and called for the mobilisation of the combined strength of the entire political system, citizens, businesses, and society at large. He emphasized the importance of leveraging both state and socialised resources to ensure a successful and meaningful event.
Innovation and Integration
PM Chính directed that the exhibition must effectively integrate traditional values with modern technologies and creative methods. “The use of methods, technologies and art forms must reflect both tradition and modernity, be scientifically sound and allow both in-person and online visitors to access the exhibition,” he said.
He urged the mobilisation of documents, archives, artefacts, and notable individuals to ensure a comprehensive and dynamic representation of the country’s achievements. Special, preferential, and exceptional mechanisms will be adopted to facilitate the successful preparation and implementation of the exhibition.
The 80th National Day exhibition is expected to be a landmark event that reinforces national unity, promotes cultural and historical awareness, and affirms Vietnam’s enduring commitment to peace, development, and global engagement.
