Tashkent, July 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with the United States Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick, to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation in the pharmaceutical and scientific sectors.
During the meeting, Mr. Azizov provided a comprehensive overview of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical market, including its current status, export potential, and major initiatives underway within the innovative Tashkent Pharma Park scientific-industrial cluster. He highlighted the country’s commitment to advancing pharmaceutical innovation and international collaboration.
The discussions focused on potential avenues for conducting clinical trials in Uzbekistan and fostering academic and scientific partnerships with leading U.S. universities and research institutions. Both sides also explored opportunities to organize information and training programs in alignment with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards, further enhancing the capabilities of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector.
Ambassador Henick emphasized the increasing interest of American companies and research institutions in collaborating with Uzbek entrepreneurs and institutions, particularly in areas of innovation, healthcare, and education.
The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation through various academic and professional exchange programs, including the Fulbright Program, Faculty Enrichment initiatives, and the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). They also considered the establishment of joint research grants and knowledge-sharing platforms to deepen mutual engagement in science and education.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to expanding U.S.-Uzbekistan ties in the pharmaceutical industry and beyond, supporting long-term development goals and innovation-driven growth.
