Astana, November 24, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated renowned Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin on his election as President of the International Federation of World Boxing (IFWB), Akorda reported on Sunday.
In his message, President Tokayev stated that Golovkin’s appointment marks a significant milestone for Kazakhstan, noting that he is the first Kazakhstani to lead an international federation in an Olympic sport.
“This milestone highlights the recognition of Gennady Golovkin’s remarkable contributions. He has become the first Kazakhstani to head an international federation in an Olympic discipline,” the Head of State said.
Golovkin, a two-time world champion and one of Kazakhstan’s most celebrated athletes, is widely respected for his achievements and contributions to the sport globally. His new role is expected to strengthen Kazakhstan’s presence in the international boxing community.
The President extended his best wishes to Golovkin for success in carrying out his new responsibilities.
