Jakarta, January 1, 2026 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto marked New Year’s Eve 2026 with residents displaced by recent natural disasters in South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, choosing a solemn gathering of national songs and prayer over traditional fireworks to demonstrate solidarity, officials said on Thursday.

Visiting the Kodam I/Bukit Barisan Health Post, President Prabowo led evacuees in singing patriotic songs such as “Tanah Air” and “Rayuan Pulau Kelapa”, offering hope and encouragement to those affected by the ongoing crises.

“Happy New Year, 2026. May the Almighty always grant the best to all of us,” he told the crowd. Accompanied by several ministers, the President led a joint prayer for victims of disasters and national challenges, emphasizing resilience and unity.

During the visit, he personally interacted with evacuees, listening to their concerns regarding shelter and the transition from emergency response to recovery. He assured them that the government remains fully committed to their rehabilitation and well-being.

President Prabowo also noted that his cabinet operates on a rotating basis to ensure ministers are physically present in affected regions, closely monitoring relief and recovery efforts. The modest celebration underscored the administration’s solidarity with disaster-affected communities while reaffirming the nation’s commitment to collective resilience.
