Turkmenistan Explores AI Integration in Education During Talks With OpenAI in London

London, May 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: A delegation from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan met with representatives of OpenAI during a working visit to London for the Education World Forum 2026 to discuss the potential application of artificial intelligence in the country’s education system, Turkmen state media reported on Thursday.

The discussions focused on the use of AI technologies to enhance the quality of education and promote AI literacy among schoolchildren, university students, teachers and administrative personnel.

Representatives of OpenAI presented opportunities for the pilot implementation of ChatGPT Edu and similar AI-based solutions at selected educational institutions in Turkmenistan. The talks also addressed key issues including teacher training, the identification of target groups, the safe and responsible use of AI, data protection and adherence to academic integrity standards.

Both sides additionally explored the possibility of incorporating a research component into future projects to evaluate the impact of artificial intelligence on education quality, student skills development and teaching effectiveness.

The meeting also considered potential next steps, including the development of pilot initiative formats, identification of priority areas for AI integration in education and the organisation of student hackathons and other practical AI-related events.

The talks reaffirmed the mutual interest of both parties in expanding cooperation in the responsible use of artificial intelligence, digital education analytics and workforce preparation to meet the demands of the future labour market.
