Islamabad, September 04, 2026 – The Europe Today: Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan Damián Cordero received Murtaza Solangi, spokesperson for President Asif Ali Zardari and a member of the Presidential Secretariat, at the Cuban Embassy in Islamabad.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed appreciation for the senior Pakistani official’s visit. In his remarks, Solangi said it was an honour to visit the Embassy of Cuba, recalling the solidarity demonstrated by the Cuban people during Pakistan’s devastating 2005 earthquake, when Cuban medical and humanitarian teams were among the first to arrive and the last to leave.

The meeting was held in a cordial and respectful atmosphere and focused on matters of mutual interest, with discussions aimed at further promoting relations and cooperation between Cuba and Pakistan across various sectors.

During the meeting, Ambassador Cordero briefed the Pakistani presidential spokesperson on the challenging situation facing Cuba, which he attributed to the continued intensification of the US government’s multidimensional blockade, as well as the impact of an energy siege and military threats.

Solangi thanked the Cuban Ambassador for the briefing and, in his capacity as a political analyst, presented Ambassador Cordero with a book he had recently authored.

At the conclusion of the visit, Solangi toured a photo exhibition at the embassy commemorating the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro. He also viewed medical donations that Pakistani doctors trained in Cuba have begun arranging for shipment to Cuba at the earliest possible opportunity.

The presidential spokesperson highly appreciated the initiative, highlighting the continued spirit of solidarity and friendship between the peoples of Pakistan and Cuba.
