Baku, September 23, 2026 — The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held talks with Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdoulkader Houssein Omar on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers reviewed the current state of Azerbaijan-Djibouti relations and prospects for their further development, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts and political dialogue.
Particular attention was paid to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, economic relations, education and humanitarian affairs, with the sides discussing ways to make more effective use of existing opportunities.
The ministers also exchanged views on coordination and mutual support within the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and other multilateral platforms.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s preparations to host the OIC Summit in 2027 and its forthcoming chairmanship of the organization were also discussed.
The two foreign ministers further exchanged views on the evolving security situation in the broader Middle East. They emphasized the importance of reducing tensions and resolving regional issues through peaceful means.
