Dushanbe, October 16, 2026 – The Europe Today: Tajikistan, in cooperation with the United Nations and other international partners, will host a high-level international conference in Dushanbe in May 2027 to launch the “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations.”

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon announced the initiative while addressing the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, Azerbaijan, on October 15, 2026.

President Rahmon emphasised that strengthening peace and trust was not merely a political position for Tajikistan but also an important priority of its foreign policy.

He recalled that Tajikistan had initiated the declaration of 2027–2036 as the “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations,” a proposal adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

According to the Tajik president, implementing the objectives of the decade would create favourable conditions for constructive dialogue among states, promote a culture of peace and help prevent conflicts.

Rahmon expressed confidence that the upcoming conference would contribute to the successful launch of the international decade and further strengthen peace, dialogue, solidarity and cooperation worldwide.
