Islamabad, August 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday hoisted the national flag at the Pakistan Monument to mark the celebration of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.
The main flag-hoisting ceremony, held at the iconic monument symbolizing national unity and strength, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, federal ministers, and dozens of students.
Upon the prime minister’s arrival, children dressed in traditional cultural attire presented him with bouquets. Wearing a black sherwani over white shalwar kameez, the prime minister unfurled the national flag as the crowd stood in respect, accompanied by the playing of the national anthem and patriotic songs.
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz laid a wreath at the monument and offered prayers for the country’s development, progress, and prosperity.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21-gun salutes in all provincial capitals, heralding the nation’s Independence Day celebrations.
