Uzbekistan and Pakistan Strengthen Cooperation in Religion and Enlightenment

Islamabad, August 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, held a meeting with Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony of Pakistan. The discussion took place in an open, friendly, and warm atmosphere, reflecting the close historical and cultural ties between the two brotherly nations.

The two dignitaries explored significant areas of cooperation, including:

  • Launching exchange programs for students and teachers between religious educational institutions;
  • Sharing expertise in protecting youth from extremist ideologies;
  • Showcasing the activities of Uzbekistan’s leading institutions, including the Center of Islamic Civilization, the International Research Centers of Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, and Imam Maturidi, as well as the Mir Arab Madrasa and the School of Hadith Studies;
  • Organizing academic conferences, seminars, joint research projects, and training programs;
  • Promoting pilgrimages for Pakistani believers to Uzbekistan’s sacred sites through the “Umrah Plus” program.

Both sides highlighted that Uzbekistan and Pakistan share ancient bonds of friendship, a rich historical legacy, and common values. The Pakistani Minister praised Uzbekistan as a center of global Islamic civilization and emphasized its importance for the people of Pakistan as the birthplace of the Mughal dynasty.

It was further announced that a high-level delegation of prominent Pakistani ulema, led by Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, will visit Uzbekistan in the near future.

This meeting represents a new milestone in deepening bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan in the fields of religion, science, and enlightenment, further strengthening their fraternal ties.
