Tashkent, September 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: A parliamentary delegation of Malaysia, led by Deputy President of the Senate Nur Jazlan Mohamed, paid a visit to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, where it held talks with Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening friendly relations, multifaceted cooperation, and inter-parliamentary ties between Uzbekistan and Malaysia. Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, ensuring regular dialogue, and sharing legislative experience. Proposals were advanced to intensify the activities of friendship groups, hold regular meetings, and develop mechanisms for effective parliamentary oversight of agreements reached at the highest state and governmental levels.
The sides noted that the peoples of Uzbekistan and Malaysia are bound by long-standing ties rooted in common history, religion, traditions, and values. They underlined that the open and constructive dialogue between the two heads of state serves as a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral relations.
Discussions also touched upon expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, along with joint projects in education, tourism, and other spheres. Proposals included launching joint programs with leading Malaysian universities and organizing educational forums.
The parties positively assessed cooperation in the fields of Islamic and cultural studies, highlighting the partnership between Uzbekistan’s Center for Islamic Civilization, the International Academy of Islamic Studies, and Malaysian research institutions. The significance of Uzbekistan Culture Days held in Malaysia was also noted.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to deepen inter-parliamentary relations and broaden avenues of collaboration.
