Tashkent, September 11, 2025 — The Europe Today: President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 10 received a Russian delegation led by Alexander Beglov, Governor of Saint Petersburg, to discuss the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
Talks focused on the implementation of economic cooperation projects and cultural-humanitarian exchange programs with Saint Petersburg. Both sides welcomed the positive growth in bilateral trade, noting that regional export-import operations increased by 20 percent last year. Ongoing work to launch a Business Center in Tashkent and to prepare a project for the construction of the Saint Petersburg Neighborhood in New Tashkent was also reviewed.
During the visit, the two sides adopted a roadmap for the implementation of 23 joint projects across multiple sectors, including metallurgy, instrument engineering, road construction, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, the food industry, agriculture, and logistics. They also supported proposals to expand cooperation in private medicine, education, public utilities, digital technologies, migration, and tourism.
The meeting underscored the importance of fostering active humanitarian exchanges and organizing regular cultural events. Both parties agreed to take measures ensuring the successful convening of the second meeting of the Uzbekistan–Russia Council of Regions, scheduled for October this year.
