Turkmenistan Marks 34th Independence Anniversary in Pakistan with Renewed Commitment to Peace, Neutrality, and Regional Cooperation

Turkmenistan Marks 34th Independence Anniversary in Pakistan

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan hosted a dinner reception to celebrate the 34th Anniversary of the Independence of Turkmenistan, highlighting the country’s achievements in peace, neutrality, economic development, and regional cooperation.

The event, attended by senior Pakistani officials, diplomats, and distinguished guests, featured a keynote address by H.E. Mr. Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan, who underscored the historic significance of Turkmenistan’s independence and the enduring values of neutrality and peaceful cooperation.

This year’s celebrations also included a golf tournament, which, according to Ambassador Movlamov, reflects Turkmenistan’s national policy of promoting healthy lifestyles and public well-being. He emphasized that sports and fitness remain integral to the country’s social development.

Independence and Neutrality as Cornerstones

Ambassador Movlamov reminded the audience that independence is the greatest asset of the Turkmen people, and this year carries dual significance as Turkmenistan also marks the 30th anniversary of its permanent Neutrality status.

He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s unique model of “Positive Neutrality”, which forms the basis of its foreign policy and has been recognized by the United Nations. He recalled that 2025, declared by the UN as the International Year of Peace and Trust, was initiated by Turkmenistan—underscoring the country’s consistent commitment to peace, trust, and sustainable development.

“Over the years, Turkmenistan has built constructive and cooperative relationships with its neighbors and the broader international community. It has become a reliable partner in regional and global efforts to maintain peace, promote stability, and foster mutual understanding,” the Ambassador said.

Economic Growth and Modernization

Highlighting the nation’s economic progress, Ambassador Movlamov noted that Turkmenistan, one of the world’s richest countries in oil and gas reserves, is undergoing comprehensive modernization across all sectors. He pointed to large-scale investments in infrastructure, energy pipelines, highways, industrial complexes, and new cities, powered by innovation and sustainability.

The Ambassador also stressed the diversification of Turkmenistan’s economy, spanning energy, metallurgy, engineering, chemicals, electronics, light industry, pharmaceuticals, and construction, with the gas industry remaining central to its strategic growth.

Turkmenistan–Pakistan Relations

Ambassador Movlamov reaffirmed the traditional friendship and historical ties between Turkmenistan and Pakistan. He highlighted key bilateral projects such as the TAPI gas pipeline, electricity transmission lines, and fiber-optic communication links along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.

“These projects will not only strengthen regional connectivity but also stimulate economic growth, raise living standards, and contribute to regional peace and cooperation,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the future of bilateral ties, the Ambassador emphasized that Turkmen–Pakistani relations will continue to grow stronger for the benefit of both nations.

A Celebration of Friendship

The evening concluded with the Ambassador congratulating the winners and participants of the golf tournament, encouraging all to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.

“Your presence adds great value to this celebration,” he said, before concluding with a heartfelt message of solidarity:
“Turkmenistan–Pakistan dosti zenda baad!”
