Islamabad, November 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Dan Stoenescu paid a formal visit to the National Library of Pakistan, where he met with Director General Muhammad Ali Shahzad Muzaffar and the library’s dedicated team. The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Romania and Pakistan.
During the visit, Ambassador Stoenescu made a significant donation of Romanian books, published by the Romanian Cultural Institute Publishing House. The collection includes volumes on history, literature, art, and cultural heritage, reflecting Romania’s rich intellectual tradition and commitment to promoting cross-cultural understanding.
Discussions were held on the establishment of a dedicated “Romanian Shelf” at the National Library of Pakistan, which will provide Pakistani readers with direct access to Romanian scholarship, literature, and creative works. The possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Library of Romania was also explored, aiming to foster long-term institutional collaboration between the two libraries.
Ambassador Stoenescu emphasized the role of libraries in connecting people, preserving cultural identity, and building bridges of understanding. Strengthening cooperation in education, culture, and knowledge exchange was highlighted as a key pillar of the Romania–Pakistan partnership.
The Ambassador expressed optimism about deepening cultural ties and supporting initiatives that bring readers, researchers, and students from both nations closer together.
