Romanian, Swiss Foreign Ministers Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Economic Support in Rome

RomeNovember 20, 2025 – The Europe Today:  The Romanian Foreign Minister met in Rome with Swiss Federal Counsellor Ignazio Cassis, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, to discuss bilateral cooperation and strategic economic initiatives.

The discussions focused on strengthening economic ties, including the effective utilization of grants under the second Swiss contribution to Romania’s economic growth. These funds support key sectors such as dual learning and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), environmental protection and energy efficiency, health and social inclusion, as well as civic engagement and transparency initiatives.

Romania expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s continued support in its accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a strategic objective of the Romanian Government. The meeting also covered broader European cooperation and preparations for Switzerland’s Presidency of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2026.

The talks underscored the commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral relations, enhance economic collaboration, and strengthen partnership within European and international frameworks.
