Bucharest, November 23, 2025 – The Europe Today: Romanian President Nicușor Dan has expressed deep concern over the latest developments in Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine, emphasizing the critical need for unity, strategic vision, and a strengthened transatlantic partnership during this pivotal moment in European security.
In a statement issued on Saturday, President Dan said he is closely monitoring the evolving situation and welcomed U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s renewed efforts to advance a sustainable ceasefire and pave the way for a negotiated, lasting peace.
“I welcome first and foremost President Donald J. Trump’s renewed efforts to advance toward a sustainable ceasefire and toward the formula of a negotiated and sustainable peace,” he noted, highlighting the significance of continued international engagement.
The Romanian president underscored that the future of Romania’s security—as well as that of the entire European continent—hinges on the conditions under which peace is ultimately restored in Ukraine and on the security arrangements that follow.
Reaffirming Romania’s commitment to Kyiv, he joined other European leaders in assuring Ukraine of their continued support. “Supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, alongside the USA, seems equally important to me as well,” he stated.
President Dan stressed that the current circumstances call for “maturity, vision, and courage,” pointing out that the moment demands an intensified and sincere transatlantic dialogue grounded in solidarity among allies and alignment of interests between the European Union and NATO.
He further emphasized that Romania is assessing the ongoing developments through the lens of the security, stability, and prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, which he described as being of the “utmost importance” to Romania.
The president’s remarks come at a time of heightened diplomatic activity as European and transatlantic partners seek pathways toward de-escalation while reaffirming their commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and regional stability.
