Turkmenbashi, December 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: The opening ceremony of a branch of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, was held today in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. The event underscored Turkmenistan’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian values and the welfare of the younger generation.

The establishment of the Fund’s branch in Avaza, a region celebrated for its healing climate and modern infrastructure, highlights its transformation into not only a premier resort area but also a center for children’s health and rehabilitation. The new facility will serve as a hub for coordinating charitable and cultural events, as well as providing medical consultations for children.

The ceremony was attended by leaders and members of foreign delegations participating in the International Conference “The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,” alongside representatives of national public organizations and the scientific community.

Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund, addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of this historic opening. She highlighted that child care remains a key priority of Turkmenistan’s state policy and a focus of the country’s leadership, including the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Hero Arkadag, and President of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadagly Serdar.

Vice President Atabayeva further elaborated on the Fund’s expanding international humanitarian work, noting that hundreds of children in Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan have received assistance, with shipments of relevant aid demonstrating the Fund’s global outreach. She expressed confidence that this initiative would be a fitting tribute to Turkmenistan’s 30th anniversary of neutrality during the International Year of Peace and Trust, reinforcing peace and trust as the foundation of Turkmenistan’s humanistic values and foreign policy.

The formal proceedings included the raising of the national flag of Turkmenistan to the national anthem, followed by the Fund’s flag, a performance by a children’s dance group from the Jahan Creative Center, and a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by Vice President Atabayeva. Guests were introduced to the modern facility, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to the healthy development of the nation’s youth. A demonstration by the Galkynysh National Equestrian Games Group and an exhibition of Turkmen national dishes, including plov, dograma, churek, and pishme, followed.

As part of the celebrations, Vice President Atabayeva held a bilateral meeting with Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation of Azerbaijan, to discuss cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. Both sides emphasized the importance of cultural and charitable partnerships, reviewed opportunities for joint initiatives in child health and welfare, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration between the two organizations.

Concluding the event, both leaders expressed confidence in the continued fruitful dialogue between their organizations in the interests of children and the promotion of humanitarian values.
