Beijing, January 05, 2024, The Europe Today: On Friday, JAC Group, the prominent Chinese carmaker, proudly announced the delivery of China’s inaugural mass-produced new electric vehicle (NEV) featuring an innovative sodium-ion battery. Marketed under the Yiwei brand, this model is equipped with sodium-ion cylindrical cells provided by HiNa Battery Technology. Boasting a battery pack capacity of 23.2 kWh, the vehicle achieves an impressive driving range of up to 230 km.
Distinguishing itself from commonly used lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries present numerous advantages, including abundant raw material reserves, exceptional low-temperature performance, higher conductivity, faster charging capabilities, the potential for increased energy density, and enhanced safety during transportation, as highlighted by Liu Shulong, a technology supervisor at JAC Group.
