Expansion of China-Uzbek Economic Cooperation in Fergana Region

Tashkent, January 20, 2024, The Europe Today: Fergana Region, Uzbekistan, boasts a growing collaboration with the People’s Republic of China, evident in the operation of 157 enterprises with Chinese capital involvement. The partnership has witnessed an increasing scale, with various projects currently in development across diverse sectors.

In the past year, the region saw a disbursement of $537.6 million in foreign investments, reflecting the implementation of projects in conjunction with China. Notably, $318.5 million of these investments were direct, highlighting the depth of economic engagement.

Uchkuprik district stands as a testament to this collaboration, witnessing the establishment of 10 enterprises across different domains with Chinese investors. Among them, Andelai LLC, which received an investment of 13.1 billion UZS, has played a significant role. Since its inception in 2020, the enterprise has been dedicated to the production of 50 types of shirts for men and children, providing employment to 200 women. In 2023 alone, it produced over 40 thousand high-quality, competitive products, exported to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

Looking ahead, the region plans to initiate 31 projects in collaboration with Chinese investors during 2024-2026. This year will mark the commencement of projects valued at $322 million, further solidifying the economic ties between the two partners. The current visit of a Chinese delegation to Fergana region is expected to conclude with mutually beneficial agreements, enhancing the prospects of continued cooperation and shared prosperity.
