Mobile Phone Shipments Surge in China, Driven by 5G Growth

Beijing, March 03, 2024, The Europe Today: In a remarkable leap, mobile phone shipments in China witnessed a substantial 68.1 percent year-on-year increase, reaching a total of 31.78 million units in January, as reported by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).

The most noteworthy contributor to this surge was the robust performance of 5G mobile phones, which dominated the market with a total of 26.17 million units shipped in January. This marked an impressive 59 percent year-on-year expansion, highlighting the increasing adoption and demand for advanced 5G technology, according to CAICT, a research institution under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Domestic brands continued to hold a commanding position in China’s mobile phone industry during the period, maintaining their dominance with a staggering 165.2 percent year-on-year increase in shipments, totaling 26.24 million units.
