Hanoi, March 21, 2024, The Europe Today: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính warmly welcomed Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship, Diana Elena Mondino, during her visit to Hà Nội on Wednesday. The reception served as a platform to reaffirm Việt Nam’s enduring commitment to fostering traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Argentina.
PM Chính conveyed his satisfaction with the fruitful discussions held between Minister Mondino and Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn on March 19, highlighting the visit’s potential to invigorate bilateral relations, particularly in sectors aligning with both nations’ strengths and demands such as industry and agriculture.
Emphasizing the importance of continuous high-level engagements, Prime Minister Chính proposed an intensified exchange of delegations between the two countries. He stressed the imperative to expedite negotiations towards the conclusion of collaborative agreements aimed at facilitating business and investment activities, thereby augmenting bilateral trade, which stood at a commendable US$3.45 billion in 2023.
PM Chính urged Argentina’s support for advancing negotiations on a free trade agreement between Việt Nam and MERCOSUR, emphasizing its pivotal role in fostering economic growth for both nations.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Chính advocated for enhanced collaboration across various domains including culture, sports, tourism, education, training, security, and defense. He encouraged exploration of new avenues of cooperation such as climate change adaptation, green growth, digital transformation, circular economy, and sustainable agriculture.
Highlighting the significance of mutual support and consultation at international forums, PM Chính affirmed Việt Nam’s commitment to bolstering cooperation with Argentina on global issues.
In response, Minister Mondino reaffirmed Argentina’s recognition of Việt Nam’s growing influence regionally and globally. She proposed prioritizing collaboration in finance, taxation, and aviation, aligning with Argentina’s strategic interests.
Minister Mondino also emphasized the potential for enhanced cooperation in agriculture and trade, advocating for the establishment of a bilateral strategic partnership in industry and agriculture.
Minister Mondino briefed PM Chính on the outcomes of her discussions with Vietnamese counterparts, highlighting agreed-upon measures and forthcoming collaboration in agriculture and trade.
Expressing gratitude for the invitation, Minister Mondino extended an invitation from President Javier Milei for PM Chính to visit Argentina. Prime Minister Chính graciously accepted the invitation, tasking the foreign ministries of both countries to coordinate the visit’s arrangements at a mutually convenient time.
