Hanoi, March 29, 2024, The Europe Today: During a productive working session in Hanoi on Thursday, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính reaffirmed Vietnam’s steadfast commitment to nurturing and strengthening its longstanding ties with Japan, emphasizing the invaluable contributions of Japanese investors to the country’s development. The meeting, attended by a delegation from the Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN) led by Masayoshi Fujimoto and Masayuki Hyodo, Co-chairmen of KEIDANREN’s Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee, underscored the mutual commitment to advancing economic cooperation and fostering strategic partnerships between the two nations.
Prime Minister Chính expressed Vietnam’s deep appreciation for Japan’s pivotal role as its leading economic partner, highlighting Japan’s significant contributions across various domains, including official development assistance, labor cooperation, investment, and trade. He lauded the successful implementation of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative over the past two decades and welcomed the continuation of this joint initiative in the new era, with a renewed focus on promoting initiatives such as the Asia Zero Emission Community/Green Transformation (AZEC/GX), innovation, digital transformation, and the development of supporting industries.
In response, the co-chairmen of KEIDANREN affirmed Japan’s unwavering commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with Vietnam, particularly in the realm of economic cooperation. Citing a survey conducted by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), they highlighted Vietnam’s status as one of the most attractive destinations for Japanese investors, particularly in supporting industries, digital transformation, and high-quality human resources training.
Keidanren and Japanese enterprises pledged their support for Vietnam’s green transition initiatives and expressed their readiness to collaborate on projects aligned with the principles of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) and Japan’s Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) initiative.
In alignment with these discussions, Prime Minister Chính emphasized the importance of strengthening economic connectivity between Vietnam and Japan, urging continued cooperation in investment across priority sectors outlined in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World. He further reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to supporting long-term foreign investors, highlighting ongoing efforts to streamline administrative procedures and enhance the business environment.
As Vietnam and Japan embark on a new phase of collaboration, marked by mutual respect, strategic alignment, and shared prosperity, both nations remain steadfast in their commitment to advancing economic cooperation and fostering enduring partnerships that benefit their citizens and contribute to regional stability and prosperity.
