The VSL, also known as “Cun Chao,” was initiated in Rongjiang County, southwest China’s Guizhou Province, in 2023. Since its inception, it has quickly gained popularity both in China and internationally for its grassroots appeal and festive atmosphere.
Cannavaro, who was deeply impressed by the fervor of the local football fans, remarked on the unique and vibrant environment of the VSL. “The passion and enthusiasm for football here are truly remarkable,” he said. “It’s wonderful to see how the sport brings the community together in such a joyous and down-to-earth manner.”
