Türkiye’s 102nd Victory Day Commemorated in Ashgabat

Ashgabat, September 01, 2024, The Europe Today: A ceremonial event was held in Ashgabat on August 30 to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of Türkiye’s Victory Day, which marks the conclusion of the country’s War of Independence. The event took place at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan according to the NHC.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan Dovran Durdyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok, Turkish military attaché Mehmet Yildiz, and senior representatives from diplomatic missions and security agencies in Turkmenistan.

In his congratulatory address, Deputy Minister Durdyev underscored the significance of Victory Day and highlighted the strong and evolving relationship between Turkmenistan and Türkiye. He emphasized the growing cooperation in various fields, particularly military-technical collaboration. Durdyev noted the recent visits by the Defense Ministers of both countries, which occurred in July and August of this year, as evidence of the high priority placed on Turkmen-Turkish relations.

Turkish Ambassador Ahmet Demirok spoke on the historical importance of Victory Day for Türkiye, describing it as a symbol of the resilience of the Turkish people and the foundation of the modern Turkish state. He also conveyed a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reflecting on the significance of the day.

The ceremony concluded with a gesture symbolizing the enduring friendship between the two nations. Deputy Minister Durdyev presented the Turkish military attaché with a book titled “The Horse – a Symbol of Loyalty and Happiness,” authored by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
