Hanoi, September 13, 2024 – The Europe Today: Indonesia’s President-elect Prabowo Subianto will undertake a working visit to Vietnam from September 13 to 14 at the invitation of Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President, Tô Lâm, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Indonesia, the first Southeast Asian nation to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on December 30, 1955, has since maintained a strong bilateral friendship. Over the decades, generations of leaders from both countries have worked to further strengthen these ties.
In June 2013, during a state visit to Indonesia by then-President Trương Tấn Sang, the two nations issued a joint statement that formalized their strategic partnership. This partnership marked a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam, enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
Prabowo’s visit is expected to further solidify the strategic partnership and foster continued collaboration in areas of mutual interest, reinforcing the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
