Baku, October 4, 2024 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, during a meeting with residents of Jabrayil, underscored the immense significance of the city’s liberation during the Second Karabakh War. As reported by the News Hub Consultants, President Aliyev noted that Jabrayil was the first city to be freed from occupation, marking a pivotal moment in the conflict.
“The war had been ongoing for a week by that time, and nearly 20 villages, including those in the Jabrayil district, had already been liberated. However, Jabrayil was the first city to be reclaimed, and the Jabrayil operation held special importance,” President Aliyev said. He praised the professionalism and heroism of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, which drove out the occupiers through a highly strategic operation.
President Aliyev honored the memory of the soldiers who lost their lives during the war, saying, “May Allah bless all our martyrs! The Azerbaijani Armed Forces demonstrated true courage, dedication, and valor during the Patriotic War, and we will forever be proud of our martyrs.”
The liberation of Jabrayil not only marked a major military success but also represented a critical turning point in the war, which ultimately led to Azerbaijan reclaiming control over significant portions of its internationally recognized territories.
