Beijing, November 30, 2024 – The Europe Today: Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for increased efforts to adapt Marxism to the unique Chinese context and the evolving needs of the times. Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized these points in an instruction on the ongoing project of studying and developing Marxist theory in the new era.
The instruction was conveyed at a conference held in Beijing on Friday, marking the significance of the project, which was launched 20 years ago. Xi highlighted that the project has been instrumental in promoting the Party’s innovative theories and solidifying Marxism’s guiding role in the ideological landscape.
In his remarks, Xi underscored the importance of integrating the foundational principles of Marxism with China’s unique realities and its rich traditional culture. He called for enhanced theoretical research and effective public communication to help the public better grasp the Party’s evolving theories.
Furthermore, Xi stressed the need to accelerate the creation of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences, while also fostering a pool of high-caliber theoretical talent.
Cai Qi, a senior member of the CPC, attended the conference and echoed Xi’s sentiments, urging greater efforts to study Marxism’s core tenets and incorporate China’s specific realities and traditional culture into theoretical innovation.
