Baku, December 4, 2024 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Mevlut Cavusoglu, former Foreign Minister of Türkiye, member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and head of the delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
During the meeting, Cavusoglu conveyed greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to President Aliyev, who expressed gratitude and requested that his greetings be extended to President Erdogan in return.
President Aliyev thanked Cavusoglu for participating in the International Conference organized by the Western Azerbaijan Community in Baku, emphasizing the event’s importance. Cavusoglu, in turn, acknowledged the significance of the conference and expressed his appreciation for the invitation.
Cavusoglu also congratulated President Aliyev on two major accomplishments: the victory of the New Azerbaijan Party in this year’s parliamentary elections and the successful organization of COP29 hosted by Azerbaijan. He described COP29 as a historic summit with globally significant decisions.
President Aliyev highlighted the exemplary organization of COP29, noting the critical role of Türkiye’s delegation, led by President Erdogan, in enhancing the event’s importance. He emphasized that the conference, attended by numerous heads of state and government, showcased Azerbaijan’s leadership and potential on the global stage, marking it as a significant achievement for both Azerbaijan and the broader Turkic world.
Both sides reaffirmed the strong friendship, brotherhood, and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye across various sectors, including interparliamentary cooperation. They expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of these ties in the future.
