Moscow, December 12, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the critical role that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies will play in achieving Russia’s national goals, stating that AI will become the most important resource for achieving development goals.
Speaking at an international AI conference in Moscow, Putin highlighted the rapid pace at which AI is transforming industries across the country’s economy and social sphere. He stressed that AI has the potential to strengthen Russia’s defense capabilities, promote high-quality economic development, and improve public administration, among other benefits.
“The key condition for our scientific, technological, and ideological sovereignty is to have our own developments in the AI sphere,” Putin said. “Algorithms and principles of AI operation are laid down by people, who imply certain values, culture, traditions, national interests, and so on. In order to determine the future and fate of Russia, we must create such technologies ourselves, independently.”
Putin also praised Russian companies for their efforts in integrating AI technologies into their work, stating that they will continue to create products and services based on AI not only for Russia but for the entire world.
The Russian president also announced plans to hold a strategic session on the future of AI in Russia, proposing that it be held together with other nations to determine the direction in which these powerful technologies will develop further.
In addition, Putin highlighted the use of AI tools in his upcoming Q&A session this month, stating that the processing of questions submitted by the Russian population has exceeded all expectations.
