Aktau, December 25, 2024 – The Europe Today: An Embraer 190 aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines (flight J2-8243), en route from Baku to Grozny, made an emergency landing three kilometers from Aktau due to a collision with a flock of birds.
According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, approximately 25 passengers from the crashed plane were taken to hospitals for treatment.
The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan has released an updated passenger list, detailing the nationalities of those onboard:
- 37 Azerbaijani citizens
- 6 Kazakh citizens
- 3 Kyrgyz citizens
- 16 Russian citizens
The aircraft was carrying 67 passengers and 5 crew members at the time of the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further updates will be shared with the public.
Azerbaijan Airlines confirmed the incident and stated that more information about the condition of the passengers and the extent of the damage would be provided soon.
