Uzbekistan and COMSTECH Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Science and Technology

Islamabad, January 3, 2025 – The Europe Today: Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtayev held a productive meeting with Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, the Standing Committee of Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The discussions focused on fostering collaboration in scientific and technological fields and implementing joint initiatives and projects of mutual benefit.

During the meeting, the Coordinator General lauded Uzbekistan’s significant achievements in advancing science and innovative technologies and their practical integration into the national economy. He attributed this progress to the wide-ranging reforms spearheaded by Uzbekistan’s leadership, particularly in education and innovative development.

Both parties reached a consensus on organizing international events to highlight the contributions of Uzbekistan’s historical scholars and thinkers to the global scientific landscape. These initiatives aim to study and promote their invaluable scientific heritage.

Plans were also outlined for the joint organization of international competitions and Olympiads in fields such as astronomy, geography, and physics. Additionally, both sides agreed to develop grant programs aimed at supporting students and researchers in their academic and scientific pursuits.

This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and COMSTECH, contributing to the advancement of science and technology across the OIC member states.
