Turkmen President Heads 2025 Economic Plans, Focuses on Digital Economy and Key Sectors

Ashgabat, January 4, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov presided over a Cabinet of Ministers meeting via a digital platform to approve work plans for the country’s key economic sectors for 2025. The plans emphasize the development of the digital economy, macroeconomic stability, and modernization of vital industries, according to the News Hub Consultants.

The oil and gas sector will focus on intensifying field development, including work on the massive “Galkynysh” gas field, and advancing the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. In agriculture, priorities include cotton and grain production, livestock farming, and the integration of modern technologies.

The construction and industrial complex will prioritize social and cultural infrastructure and upgrading transportation networks, while the trade sector will aim for market stability and commodity abundance.

Additionally, the government approved a National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking for 2025–2029. The year 2025 will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and is designated as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
