Beijing, January 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese President Xi Jinping, who also serves as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.
The greetings were conveyed during an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where Xi addressed achievements of the past year and outlined key priorities for 2025.
Reviewing 2024: Resilience and Progress
Reflecting on 2024, Xi emphasized China’s ability to overcome challenges and meet its major economic and social development objectives.
“We have guided all sectors at all levels to correctly grasp favorable conditions, handle unfavorable factors, maintain strategic resolve, and strengthen our confidence in victory,” Xi said.
Key accomplishments of 2024 included:
- A 5% GDP growth, signaling economic recovery.
- Significant breakthroughs in science and technology, driving high-quality productivity.
- Effective implementation of policies and reforms, bolstering social and economic resilience.
- Promoting peace, stability, and progress globally while enhancing governance standards domestically.
Xi also underscored the importance of advancing multiparty cooperation and unity within the nation.
Outlook for 2025: High-Quality Development and Strategic Goals
Looking ahead, Xi stated that China would adopt more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to sustain momentum in social and economic development. He stressed the focus on:
- Promoting high-quality development and technological self-reliance.
- Strengthening multiparty collaboration and leveraging the strengths of all societal groups.
- Accomplishing targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) and laying the groundwork for the next five years.
Xi also called for concerted efforts in key areas such as the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection and the private sector’s modernization under distinctive Chinese characteristics.
Call for Unity and Collective Effort
President Xi encouraged non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and unaffiliated personages to align their efforts with national priorities, build consensus, and contribute to the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
He urged private enterprises to maintain their entrepreneurial enthusiasm, bolster confidence, and establish modern corporate systems.
